How to add voice to your Internet website! - Do It Yourself Audio?

Step 1. Get a microphone and connect it to your computer's A-to-D converter card. (This may be located on your computer sound card.)

Step 2. Adjust your recording volume levels for the best quality recording. If you set your volume levels too high you will hear distortion.

Step 3. Load and run your voice recording software or Windows audio recording application. You may have to purchase or download this software. Most software programs record .WAV file formats.

Step 4. Use your microphone on your computer and record your voice.

Step 5. Save your .WAV formatted voice in a directory on your CPU Hard Drive.

Step 6. You will need to utilize special WAV-to-MP3 conversion software to convert your file to a more usable compressed audio format. (This software can be purchased or downloaded over the Internet)

Step 7. After you convert you WAV audio recording to the MP3 format, you will need to find a server to host your audio file. If you don’t have a server, you can find free hosting sites on the Internet. Nevertheless, many of these sites have bandwidth restrictions or do not allow you to link from their sites to other sites. We recommend purchasing your own hosting service for around $4.95 to $9.95 a month.

Step 8. Once you have a server to host your audio file, you may need a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program to upload your audio file to your server.

The final setup step consisted of two things that I do regularly on a daily basis. I simply copied a section of text from a textbox and pasted it to my text description area on my website. After contacting a company representative by toll-free number, I was informed that I could upgrade my service to a non-ad supported 30-second voice recording account for $2.99, and that there are other full-featured subscription Internet audio services which include their MP3 audio uploading feature not included with the free service option. I'll probably setup another page or try it on one of my ebay auctions.
